Bro. Larry A. Derr, Past Master of Casiphia Lodge No. 551, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District in December 2008.  The First Masonic District consists of nine lodges with approximately 3200 members.  Brother Derr was raised January 11, 1974 in Casiphia Lodge.  He resides in the Mount Joy area with his wife, Rochelle, and they are proud parents of a son Dustin.

The First Masonic District is very excited about the 21st Century Masonic Renaissance introduced by Brother Tom Sturgeon, Right Worshipful Grand Master, and look forward to the challenges and rewards it will bring. During the course of 2010, the First Masonic District will be participating in fund raisers consisting of: A One of a Kind Gun Raffle, Barnstormers Baseball Fund Raiser, Blood Drives, and a Golf Outing.  The funds raised from these activities will go toward the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Masonic Villages located in Elizabethtown. Other goals for the First Masonic District will be to increase Masonic Awareness through Random-Acts-of-Kindness, Community Involvement, and the Adoption of Masonic Village Residents. There will also be a One Day Masonic Class for new members on October 30, 2010.  We will be looking for good men of character to participate in this journey.

The Lodges of the 1^st Masonic District will be holding OPEN HOUSES Saturday August 21, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Bring your wife, sons, daughters, significant other, friends, golf partners, co workers, etc. and experience a tour of the Lodge Buildings and meet the members of the Lodges. Enjoy coffee and donuts and view a short CD of the history of the Lodge and the Grand Lodge of Pa. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the Masonic Fraternity up close and personal.

The School of Instruction works with Lodges and Officers within the First Masonic District to become more proficient in rituals, ceremonies, and other business of the lodge.
